Fostering Saves Lives

Foster parents help dogs tremendously by keeping them out of a stressful shelter environment and providing them a temporary home until the dog is ready for adoption. Taking a dog into your home for a period of a few days, weeks, or months is a lifesaving gift to the dog.

A foster parent for Angel's Furever Senior Dog Rescue must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 21 years of age or older.

  • Landlord consent to have a dog if you rent your home or apartment.

  • Resident dogs and cats over 6 months spayed or neutered unless there are is a medical contraindication.

  • Resident animals up to date on vaccinations.

  • Completion of a home visit by one of our AFSDR volunteers. The volunteer will need to see the areas

of the home where the dog will be living, visit with family members and meet resident pets. We are a 100% volunteer run organization, so distance may be a factor in whether or not the home visit can be completed. We may occasionally have to deny a foster application due to distance from our evaluating volunteers, but will make all efforts possible to complete the visit.

You must also agree to the following conditions, which are included in the foster home agreement contract:

Your foster dog will wear an Angel's Furever Senior Dog Rescue ID tag (provided by AFSDR) on its collar at all times when in public or outdoors.

Your foster dog will not be allowed to be off leash when outdoors, unless in a securely fenced area.

Your foster dog will reside in the home, not outside. The foster dog may NOT be left outdoors if you are not at home. This includes outdoor kennel runs.

You will never allow your foster dog to be left unattended with young children.

Please complete the Foster Home Application to begin the approval process. Once your application is approved we will contact you to review your form. It may take a few days for your application review to be completed. Thank you again for your interest in fostering for AFSDR.
